Too difficult to choose

A tree in B&W I promised my self a black and white week, and I kept to my promise, so here is the last shot of the week. I really think black and white is an awesome way to work and I enjoyed it immensely for some things.  For other things the colour adds so much more to the photo.

Play of lightI went back to my 55-200mm zoom today, just to get some change my gear to keep me sharp.

If it wasn’t for the restriction I would have chosen the photo to the right, which I think is a really nice photo where I captured the the play of light through the clouds and onto the ice.

I took a few more great shot of Oskar, who always willing sign up as my model. You can see those in the gallery. Next week I wont be posing any restrictions on myself, so lets see what it brings.

B&W flower?

DSC03538 Usually I see flowers in colours, so I wondered if you could make one in B&W, so here is the attempt. It is from yesterday, since I forgot to upload one :/

Upgrading the rig

I just got some new hardware for Rasmus’s computer, so I decided that was a meaningfulDSC03527 topic for today. I didn’t have too much time to take photos, since the hardware was needed elsewhere.

It was a real pro card as you can see from the focus.

Happy weekend

The same boat

A boat in another light I am posting the same boat again today, and why is that? Well yesterday it was grey and cloudy. Today I walked in the sunset, and with clouds scattered across the sky. That makes a significant different photo, or at least it can. I wanted to check out if I could get that to show in black and white as well. This is the result.

The angle is different. I like the angle yesterday better, due to the boat in the middle of the fjord adding a lot to the photo. But that would mean no clouds in today’s photo.  I wanted a bit of a dramatic sky, so I enhanced the contrast a lot, and I figured I still have a way to go before figuring out the B&W conversion.

Another note I took is that I tried shooting Oskar with my 50mm today which focuses faster than my zoom lens, and that means a lot to the focus when he is running around. So I will be doing that more from now on. Unfortunately I kind of missed the high dynamic range of the him in the snow, so he turned pitch black on most photos.

Anyway, I have learned some things today. Hope you enjoy the result :)

A boat at winter time

A boat in the winter Just a short update from me today. I am still playing around with black and white, and I absolutely love how I can change the constrasts in the image and seeing how much it means. Today I have tried to pull out the boat and make it appear as the subject by making it darker.

An empty street

Empty street Todays photo is from down town Skærbæk at around 6 o’clock in the evening. At that time there are no people, cars or living creatures, and even the colours has disappeared :)

An empty street, not exactly something you can use a long time looking at, but gives a bit of mysterious look . The play of light, and the way the street lights light up the road to create a diagonal light kind of works for me.

You could argue that a lone figure walking down the road would be good, and I agree except for the fact that it would be a blur with the shutter speed I had to use.

Power plant in the dark I know I promised you (or mostly my self)  a black and white week, and I did post a black and white image today. But I just have to show you this image I also took tonight. I absolutely love the colour of the sky.

It is taken with a 30 second shutter time, which shows a deep blue colour even if it looked black to me.

It’s a sign!

It's a sign I have decided to make this week all black and white, scratch that – we call it duo tone week.  I have wanted to play around with black and white images for a while, or duo tone if you like. So why not force my self to do that. All images this week will be in black and white,  so I might get the hang of it.

With black and white I believe I can work more with shapes, lines and textures, since one dimension has been removed, and therefore doesn’t distract. That makes some things easier, and some things harder. Here is my first attempt at a snow covered landscape with a sign.

Go for the eyes – this weeks challenge revisited

TFTTF Challenge - Eyes After seeing two times cat eyes I decided to go for something different, something that no one else could possible think of…. Snake eyes. The poster just before me, posted snake eyes as well… All the entries are right here.

The shot is decent, the dice are placed where I wanted them to be, the shadows are as I thought they should be, and I even managed to get the DoF as I wanted. A major step forward compared to the first product like shot I made, where everything seems impossibly hard and didn’t turn out the way I wanted.

So in some sense I feel the progression right now, which is nice.  I doubt I win with this shot though. But challenges are good.

Go for the eyes – this weeks challenge

DSC03372 This weekends tips from the top floor challenge has the topic eyes, so I wanted to make an entry for that. I tried to get Oskar to pose as a model, and got this shot out of it. Not quite there yet, so I will have to think of something else to use for this weekends challenge.

It will have to do as today’s entry for my project.
