Oh no, not another one of those sites you might think, but you had to look here to see if you can find a deeper meaning anyway? The answer to that, however, is painfully obvious. Yes it is another one of “those” sites. Before I try to justify having these few bits and bytes floating around on the Internet I think an explaination of the domain name is in order.
Why That Name and What Does It Mean Anyway?
In kindergarden the children are often split into smaller groups in order to gain an overview (and probably lower the noise level just a bit). These smaller groups are then named something that the children kan refer to, and one of the often chosen names is “grøn stue”, which means green room. I originally bought the webpage and domain name, since I wanted to explore the wonderful world of php and I didn’t have my own webserver. So this website is basically a place where I can release my inner child and play around, therefore the choice of name.
Purpose
So the name refers to a place where I can let loose my inner child, but why did I make that public available? Since I bought the domain anyway I might just use the place to keep an online resume of who I am and what I do for a living – education and research wise and so forth. The place also serves the purpose of sharing those few things I have made throughout time. And not least it now serves as a online todo list for myself, where I can keep links, and things to remember. So though there isn’t a huge purpose of this page, there is a least some purpose.
Technicalities
Originally I wrote my own content managment system (CMS) like website. However it was too much maintanance, and I didn’t have the features which actually made it usefull. After that I changed it to a set of static HTML files, which suited the purpose at that time a lot better. So now you are done right? Nope, then I changed it to drupal, which is an awesome CMS, but not quite what I needed for the purpose of my own homepage. So right now I will try Wordpress to see if that fits my needs.
