An empty street

Empty street Todays photo is from down town Skærbæk at around 6 o’clock in the evening. At that time there are no people, cars or living creatures, and even the colours has disappeared :)

An empty street, not exactly something you can use a long time looking at, but gives a bit of mysterious look . The play of light, and the way the street lights light up the road to create a diagonal light kind of works for me.

You could argue that a lone figure walking down the road would be good, and I agree except for the fact that it would be a blur with the shutter speed I had to use.

Power plant in the dark I know I promised you (or mostly my self)  a black and white week, and I did post a black and white image today. But I just have to show you this image I also took tonight. I absolutely love the colour of the sky.

It is taken with a 30 second shutter time, which shows a deep blue colour even if it looked black to me.

A plant full of snow

It snowed! One of the days full of excuses again. I wasn’t home before it got dark, but I just  got the new and bright lens so that shouldn’t stop me!  Well to be honest I was lazy, but when I walked through the gate to by hotel, I saw a plant lidt by a lamp post, and realised I might be able to play a little more with light and shadows. So I did.

I am still impressed by the lens, it is extremly sharp and captures a lot of light. This shot is taken a few hours after it became dark, and only lit by a single light bulb.  It is all you get for today, a picture by me playing around with my new lens.

It is a pretty boring shot admitted, but it is what I could manage for a day with lots of work. I will try to get up early tomorrow and see if I can get a shot before I need to go to the course.

Architecture at night

The Great Belt Brigde at Night Im sorry I didn’t manage to get a photo uploaded last night. I got the opportunity of going home one day early from the course, so once I got home, uploading a picture wasn’t the first thing on my mind. I did managed to take a decent photo though.

So today I will post two images, one from yesterday and one from today. The have a common theme, so everything is aligned well.Koldinghus by night

The photo from last night is of the Great Belt Bridge. It is taken from the same location as the photos of the bridge last time. Only this time somewhat later, and with a 200mm zoom instead of a wide angle lens. The result is what you see on the left. I haven’t post processed the photo much except for a bit of rotation. The fog you see around the pylons were very visible and very stunning while being there.

So Now I have caught up, or at least that is what I tell myself. So for today’s image I have taken a night shot of Koldinghus, from across the small lake next to it. It is a stunning building towering over the lake, and espcially at night it looks amazing. It is taken at around normal view so that is 50mm equivalent.

Once again, sorry for not updating you last night, but I am making up for it now.

Another Nightshot

Night shot of Charlottenlund Slot Here is a night shot of Charlottenlund Slot. A castle I lived close by while being in Copenhagen last year. I have done no post processing of the image, I just took it. I like the glow effect of the street lights, you probably need to see it in original size to see it.

I also played around with zooming in while taking a picture, but it seems that the exposure time needs to be shorter than the 20s that I used in order to make a full zoom during the exposure time.

I try to not use too much time on these pictures during the week, thereby forcing myself to be creative in a short time. Partly because I think it is a good challenge, but also because I froze when I tried to take photos today. :)

Drive by shooting

Car driving by Once again it was already dark when I got off from work, so a little panicking about what to shoot. I ended up taking a few night shots on a tripod, and the result is what you see here.

A car drove by when I took the shot, or rather it was in the middle of the picture when I finished. That why the lights stop there.

9E we all know what that means….

9E If you think this is weird then wait a month…. No, I came home long after it was dark outside, so I had to o some night shooting. And it happened that I on another shoot took a picture of these mail boxes. At that time I realised that I didn’t think the angle was steep enough on the perspective. So I decided to use tonight to play a bit with the angle and depth of field.

It turns out that in order to get the perspective I had hoped for I had to be almost parallel to the mail boxes. I was actually surprised by that, so I try to make my self believe that I have learned something today.

I took quite a number of shots, but this one is the best angle and I got the street lamp into the photo as well. That was actually an accident at first, but I think it adds to the picture. Enough of my babbling. I got to play a bt more with composition even if the picture might not be the most interesting to look at.

Icicles

DSC02522Just a quick updates for today.  It still hasn’t become lighter outside, and I didn’t want to make an indoor shot again today, so I decided to go out and see what a quick walk would bring. It brought me a few opportunities to shoot in low light and get some close ups as apparantly is what I can do at the moment.

The light on  the icicles is from the lamp post they hang from. To be honest, I did bring my camera with me today, but I didn’t get it out till late in the afternoon, and then I had problems getting enough light to handhold it. In the end this gave me a little walk in the brisk cold, and odays shot in the house.

Once again I only have limited post processing options right now, so all I did was a crop.

Lets see what tomorrow  brings
